Mar10 Day: Get $25 Gift Card with Nintendo Switch Purchase

The 10th of March may seem like an ordinary day, but for fans of Nintendo’s famous character Mario, it is a cause for celebration. Also known as MAR10 Day due to the date seemingly spelling out the character’s name, it is a day dedicated to the iconic plumber, despite not being linked to any specific event in his lore. Nintendo has been backing this day since 2015, offering Mario-themed activities at its official stores, price cuts on games, and various competitions, with various retailers also joining in.

As part of MAR10 festivities this year, a range of deals are on offer. One notable deal is available when purchasing a new Switch. No direct discounts are given on the console itself, but a $25 gift card is included with every purchase from participating retailers; Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Target. This promotion, which runs from March 10 to 16, applies to the OLED Switch, as well as the original Switch and the Switch Lite.

However, customers should note that the upcoming release of a new Switch console is likely in the early part of the following year, and uncertainty surrounds the continued support for the existing hybrid console. Nevertheless, the extensive catalogue available on the current Switch is well worth exploring. Numerous retailers are also offering a $20 reduction on several first-party Nintendo games.

Fans can also access a thematic bundle that includes a tropically-themed Switch lite and a digital copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons for $200, available at both Target and Walmart. Although this deal is not officially part of MAR10 Day, it is still an excellent deal.

Nintendo has also increased its free trial period for Nintendo Switch Online from seven days to 14. This service lets users play online, and also gain access to a collection of retro NES and SNES games. This offer is available until March 17, even for those who have already made use of a previous trial.

For devoted fans, in-person activities are also planned. Meet-and-greet events featuring Mario and Luigi are available at the Nintendo Store in New York City, along with giveaways and a viewing of The Super Mario Bros Movie. GameStop stores are also offering in-store giveaways on March 16.
